You can also collect snow for melting by scooping the mouth of the bottle into fresh snow.
You can leave water in the container for more than a day with a good-quality stainless steel bottle and still drink it. The Pathfinder 64oz. bottle is made from 18/8 stainless steel, the most popular grade for top-quality water bottles. The Pathfinder Bottle is single-walled, which is a must-have feature for bushcrafting, camping, and long treks into the great unknown. If you run into an emergency where you need drinkable water, you can collect water from natural sources, boil it to kill harmful bacteria, and stay alive.
However, a double-walled bottle isn’t practical for boiling water because they usually a vacuum seal between the two walls to insulate the liquid inside. Because you need to reach boiling when your mission is water purification, you can’t have double-wall vacuum insulation. Your water won’t reach a high enough temperature for safe drinking.
