Fugue from Prelude and Fugue (Dorian), BWV 538
by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
for String Quintet (Two Violins, Two Violas, Cello)
Transcribed and Arranged by Ronald C. Dishinger
Published by Medici Music Press
This intermediate level string quintet is an arrangement by Ronald Dishinger of J.S. Bach's Fugue in Dorian Mode, BWV 538. It includes one copy of each of the Violin 1 and 2, Viola 1 (each printed on one side of a two-page bifold), and Viola 2 (printed on a single page), and two copies of a single-page cello-bass part, as well as the bound score booklet. The complexity of the music and uniqueness of the Dorian mode makes this arrangement great for intermediate student recitals or solo and ensemble competitions. The parts can be used or copied to easily assemble a sextet or larger chamber group or string orchestra. For the String Orchestra version with additional copies of each part, see item 5620 166.
Difficulty: A3-4 (Intermediate)
