Cosmos - Polidor Mix - 40 seeds
Cosmos bipinnatus
Cosmos 'Polidor' is a hardy annual producing a cheerful mix of bright yellow, gold, orange, and orange-red semi-double blooms which flower over a long duration.
At a height of 70 cm, it is suitable for containers as it forms a bushy plant with deeply cut foliage. Apart from being drought and heat-tolerant, this species of Cosmos sulphureus also attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
Further, its flowers, young leaves, and shoots are edible, unlike Cosmos bipinnatus. Suitable for temperate, subtropical, and tropical areas, the seeds should be sown in November through to December in cool temperate areas, early Spring to Summer in warm temperate areas, during Spring and Autumn in subtropical areas (in frost-free areas only), and in tropical areas during the dry season.
The best germination soil temperature is between 22 to 27°C. Cosmos sulphureus dislikes being transplanted, and thus the seed needs to be sowed 5 to 6 mm deep directly into the garden bed with a space of 40 to 50 cm apart. Deadheading should be done regularly, and it will usually self-sow year after year.
