Originating from the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka the Cryptocoryne parva grows in dense colonies along the banks of fast-flowing rivers. Known as the Green Water Trumpet, this delightful little crypt is one of the smallest of the species, growing slowly this plant is somewhat demanding.
It needs more light than most other Cryptocorynes because it almost loses its leaf plate under water. So, it must never be overshadowed by other plants.
This plant looks great planted in a group of three or four and amongst light rocks or wood and to get the most from it pop a couple of Neutro TerraTabs under each one to help it grow.
Note: the picture is an example of the species you will receive and whilst the pot size will always be the same, every plant is unique and natural which means they vary in shape and size. As we are not the growers we cannot be responsible for sizes and the plant may arrive smaller than expected so please be aware of this before purchasing.
Understanding Crypt melt - all Cryptocoryne species require stable water parameter and light conditions. Once planted, Crypts should not be moved otherwise it can trigger what is called Crypt melt. If a Crypt has a significant change of environment (ph, kh , gh, lighting intensity or duration, root disturbance etc), Crypt melt can be triggered. The leaves start to disintegrate as the plant prepares for its new environment - DO NOT WORRY! Your plant will begin to grow back over the next 30 days (sometimes sooner, sometimes later) - it's still very much alive and busy getting ready for the growth of new leaves. In the meantime, any decaying leaves should be trimmed and recycled in a compost bin.
