The Gold Laser Cory is a variant of the popular Bronze Cory that can be found in soft and often silty waters in Peru. Like other Corydoras species, they are highly sociable and can be seen in groups in excess of 1000. In the home aquarium, it is advised that we add as many as possible to provide security and encourage natural behaviours.
As a bottom feeder, the Gold Laser Cory will sift through the substrate looking for any food so it is very important to only use a sand such as silica sand to protect their gills. The addition of aquatic plants will provide cover and additional security and result in a much more confident group of fish.
Corydoras are not known as fussy eaters and the Gold Laser Cory is no different. They will spend most of their time rummaging around looking for anything tasty. That can be bloodworm, daphnia, brine shrimp or quality dry foods that include ingredients such as insect meal, algae and other vegetables.
To breed, use a slightly cooler water during water changes and create additional surface agitation while filling up the tank. Adult pairs will spawn and attach eggs to the surface of leaves, wood, stone and even the aquarium glass until they hatch.
We love Corydoras and think they look great alongside Angelfish.
