The Bristle nose Pleco is one of the best catfish for new fish keepers to add to their aquarium. They are hardy, enjoy a variety of aquarium settings and generally very peaceful. We should always aim to provide a steady environment for the best level of care. The above aquarium dimensions are a minimum recommendation. The bigger your aquarium, the better it will be for your pleco, especially if you decide to keep other fish in your aquarium.
Plenty cover should be provided for the Bristle nose pleco to hide. Bog wood or driftwood can be added which will allow a natural grazing or rasping behaviour to take place. While hunting for food, Bristle nose plecos will attach themselves to wood and remove the filament algae as it moves along the surface.
One of the things that make Bristle nose Plecos appealing to new fish keepers is their willingness to breed. It is not uncommon to have breeding Bristle nose plecos in a busy community aquarium and therefore not much effort or special accommodations are needed for success.
All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, they are treated for any possible diseases and given a complete health check to make sure they are healthy, happy, and eating well before being placed in our display aquariums, ready for sale.
