The M8311 trinocular compound microscope is designed for educational and professional use. The medium-sized profile offers streamlined ergonomics with plenty of working room. The heavy-duty metal build and enamel coating will last for many years through rigorous use. This phase-contrast model includes a specialized turret condenser and objective lenses used to enhance details in low-contrast specimens such as live cells and microorganisms.

Viewing Head

To customize the microscope to your viewing comfort, the eyepiece spacing can be easily adjusted using a precision Siedentopf mechanism. A diopter is available on the left ocular tube to compensate for asymmetry, and the ocular tubes are angled at 30° to comfortably accommodate a seated position without neck strain. The head can also be rotated 360° to accommodate multiple users. Various eyepieces can be used to increase the overall optical magnification. The trinocular photo-port adds a dedicated mounting tube for cameras. The 23mm tube is height-adjustable to fine-tune the focus to match the eyepieces.

Optics

This model includes four brightfield objective lenses and four phase-contrast objective lenses. The brightfield lenses provide a magnification range from 40X to 1000X when used with the standard 10X eyepieces, while the phase-contrast lenses provide a 100X to 1000X range. Additional 25X eyepieces are included to expand the maximum magnification to 2500X.

Objective Lenses

Specimen Stage

The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level. An adjustable height limit can be set to prevent damage to the lenses and specimens while focusing.

LED Illumination

The LED sub-stage lighting provides cool, energy-efficient illumination. The light-source is daylight balanced to produce natural colors for imaging. The Abbe light condenser has a high 1.25 numerical aperture for oil-immersion, and an iris diaphragm to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser holder uses rack-and-pinion height adjustment for precision control.

Phase Contrast

A phase-contrast kit is included with a 5-position turret condenser and 4 achromatic phase-contrast objective lenses. Phase contrast is used to reveal detail in indistinct objects, such as unstained cells and microorganisms that would otherwise appear invisible. By using a combination of specialized objective lenses and a modified light condenser, these invisible objects can be visualized by manipulating variations in phase. This turret condenser allows you to easily rotate through the brightfield and four phase-contrast settings (10X, 20X, 40X, 100X). Each phase-contrast setting has a centerable annulus for proper alignment. Each of the phase-ring equipped objective lenses has achromatic corrections for improved color and resolution.

Digital Imaging

This package includes an all-in-one imaging system which combines the technologies of a 5MP microscope camera with an Android tablet to provide a feature-rich experience like no other. The high-resolution 9.7” screen brings your microscopic subjects to life in vivid color, with 90° tilt and 360° swivel to set the screen to a comfortable angle while standing or sitting. Touchscreen navigation allows you to capture photos and videos with ease using the built-in software, as well as performing measurement functions. With all of the functionality you would expect from a cutting-edge tablet, the possibilities are endless.

For added flexibility, the tablet is equipped with a micro-HDMI output to expand your display to a larger format when needed, such as a television or monitor. When it comes to file storage, you will be spoiled for choices: you can use the internal storage, save to a microSD card or USB device, or transfer files over you wi-fi network. Wi-fi connectivity not only offers networking possibilities for sharing images, but for performing online tasks while you work.
