The Microsorium pteropsa gigantea is a spontaneous mutation found in the jungles of Indonesia. The plant grows fast and large. The ends of the leaves branch out very well, thereby distinguishing this Microsorium from the other varieties. This species is only suitable for larger aquariums.
The root-stock should always be placed above the bottom substrate, otherwise the plant will slowly die. This delightful unusual plant originates from Asia and like all Microsoriums needs to be tied to wood or rock. If you do plant it, you must make sure the rhizome is not planted, otherwise it will rot.
A common question about Microsoriums are the black dots which are found under some leaves. These are reproductive organs called sporangia and are not signs of disease or illness!
Note - the picture is a guide only and what you receive may be smaller (or larger) than the picture as we are not the growers and therefore cannot control the size. If you need to know specifically what size the plant is that we have atm, drop us an email and we can let you know.
