Description
NYC Diesel (aka Soma Sour Diesel) goes back to 1997 and is one of the few surviving old school hybrids available as regular seeds (with the newer feminized version available too). Soma's NYCD has been used to create countless other hybrids and copies, but with some patience you can grow the original and discover why its so popular.
Indoors NYC Diesel flowers between 11-12 weeks while some plants may need a week longer. Apart from the longer flowering time this is a relatively easy plant to grow thanks to its vigour. This Sativa hybrid shoots up quickly and the long internodes can be a challenge. Pruning/cropping, LST, and other training methods provide an effective control on height. Cuttings can be placed into flowering soon after rooting and finish earlier than from seed. Typical for this strain are distinctive foxtail clusters at the apex of the long buds. A strong light source (400-600W HPS/m2) is recommended for quality results. NYCD is not a stealthy plant so make sure to have your filters in place.
Outdoor the plants can reach 3.5 meters (12 feet) if you plant early in the ground. NYC Diesel requires warmth and a long season and grows best in a tropical, mild/hot climate, or in a greenhouse. Pest and mold resistance are above average.
True to its name, Soma's NYCD has diesel and chemical smells accompanied by lemon/lime sweetness. There is also an exotic ripe grapefruit phenotype with an overwhelming citrus punch. It's a balanced hybrid that doesn't have the dizzy or racy effects of other Sour strains or many Sativa dominant hybrids. The dank Afghani genetics seem to ground the effects without making it stoney. A great high for the morning, the initial hit is a weightless and usually intense cerebral blast. You can get lost in any project or video game while feeling alert without anxiety. NYC Diesel is an awesome social strain; it will put you in a great mood, make conversations flow easily, and melt away social anxiety. The comedown is smooth and relaxed.
