Orchestra Expressions is a beginning method for string orchestra that combines the best in string pedagogy with a focus on musicianship and musical context. Lessons always start with a warm-up, with more advanced warm-ups being taught as the method progresses. The method starts with four fingers down, extra large notation, and simultaneous development of both hands. Shifting is approached early on Cello and Bass, and basic theory is included in the method. Later in book 1 and through book 2, a large focus is put on teaching the historical and cultural origins of everything played; musicianship and the importance of understanding this context is taught.
