The Red Phantom Tetra is a peaceful species, displaying a red but transparent appearance. With a red line running down the length of their body and strong red colouring to the end of each fin.
Their ideal aquarium should consist of a fine sandy substrate, lots of aquarium stem plants and crystal clear water. Something that makes them very popular with aquascapers. The pretty red appearance of these naturally shoaling fish contrasts beautifully with a healthy planted aquarium.
The diet of the Red Phantom Tetra is filled with a wide variety of tiny insects, crustaceans and anything they can find. This should be provided in the form of live foods like Daphnia, Brineshrimp and bloodworm. The frozen equivalent is also acceptable. Quality dry foods like flake and granules can also offer a balanced diet in the home aquarium.
It is possible to breed the Red Phantom Tetra in the home aquarium in a similar way to other egg scattering species. Setting up an aquarium with large grain gravel or mesh on the bottom to allow eggs to fall into will increase the survival rate of fry.
All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, we treat for any health issues that may occur during transport and ensure each fish is eating well and looking healthy. All fish are treated with Flubendazole before finally going on sale.
