Help: Micomsoft Products

FAQ

If you have trouble getting your Micomsoft device like the XRGB mini, XCapture or SC-512 to work, or if you have a general question on these units, look no further. We collected some frequently asked questions regarding Micomsoft products with the help of the community over at junkerhq.net for you.

What do I need to connect the XRGB mini to my setup?

The power adapter that comes with the XRGB mini is an international power adapter, which can be used for 100~240V and 50~60Hz. All you need is a power plug adapter to connect a Japanese shaped power plug into your power socket at home. You will need a display with a DVI or HDMI connection and an appropriate HDMI or HDMI to DVI cable.

How can I connect my consoles to the XRGB mini?

The mini uses a custom 8-pin mini-DIN connector for RGB input and comes with a Mini-DIN to RGB21 adapter. Do not use any European standard SCART cables with this RGB IN adapter. Standard SCART is wired differently to the Japanese only RGB21 standard and you will cause damage to your equipment if you connect European SCART to the bundled adapter.

How can I connect my European PAL retro consoles then?

If you use Japanese RGB-21 cables then you can use the bundled adapter. If you're not sure what kind of cables you have, then you most likely have Euro SCART not RGB21.

If you use SCART cables then you can buy a SCART to Mini adapter from various specialized shops online.

Can I use a SCART cable that carries other signals than RGB with the RGB-IN on the Mini?

No, the RGB-IN accepts RGB inputs only. If your SCART cable is not wired for RGB, you will not get a picture. You can’t connect composite video, S-Video or composite to the RGB-IN.

Do I need a SCART to Mini adapter with a sync stripper built in?

Not necessarily. Usually sync problems can be mitigated by adjusting the snyc level in the menu.

Does XRGB mini add input lag?

Yes, somewhere around 20ms of input lag is added. This is added to the input lag already present on your setup. However, for 240p and 288p content, using the Mini will actually reduce input lag on many TV sets when dealing with 240p/288p sources (particularly newer sets with more sophisticated deinterlacing). Of course, it will also drastically improve the image quality.

Is my TV compatible with the XRGB mini?

Some TV sets, with obscure refresh-rates can cause stuttering on some TV-sets. Known sets are:

Plasma

  • Panasonic S20
  • Panasonic ST50
  • Samsung E6500

LCD/LED

  • Sony KDL-40Z4500

I have trouble finding the right settings.

The XRGB community gathered some recommended settings for various input signals. Please note that these are mere guidelines and not set in stone:

How can I change the language settings on my Framemeister from Japanese to English?

  1. Press the Menu button
  2. Press down until you reach "special"
  3. Press "OK"
  4. Scroll down to the very bottom and select "Language"
  5. Press "OK"
  6. Choose desired language (with left and right)
  7. Press "OK"
  8. Power off XRGB mini (on the remote, don't need to unplug)
  9. Power XRGB mini back on

Why is my XCapture/SC-512 capture card not working properly?

If your XCapture is not working as expected, it is very likely that the issue lies with the drivers or software used. A community proven alternative are drivers by Startech. Depending on the OS, some work better than others. Please see the following threads for more information (better start reading from the back):

Why can’t I run the capture software VideoKeeper on my PC?

Micomsoft recently updated their capture software VideoKeeper to improve compatibility:

My capture setup suddenly stopped working. What should I do?

Even if you didn’t make any changes to your setup, it is very likely that your issue comes from a driver or software conflict. Please make a fresh install of your device and its drivers first. If that does not solve the issue, contact our customer support at [email protected]. We will then get in touch with the manufacturer.
