In the summer of 2020, White Mountains hiker Philip Carcia attempted to do something that has never been done before: hike every trail in the White Mountains Guide in a single summer season.
After hiking 2,000 miles in 99 days and falling short of his goal by nearly a week, Philip went back to the drawing board and developed a more practical, easy-to-execute strategy for his project with the intention of attempting it again a year later.
On Thursday June 10th at 7:30PM, join Burgeon Outdoor and Philip Carcia for a live event on Zoom where Philip will breakdown the key components of his SECOND Single Season Trace attempt. The spreadsheet vs. the guidebook dilemma, the current Fastest Known Time published, prior experiences on the project, and a review of all relevant clothing, gear, and equipment.
Philip will also open-up and share his 250+ page Trace Map & Databook, which will dictate the schedule and pace of his project for the majority of the summer.
This event will be broadcast live from Burgeon's Lincoln, NH headquarters via zoom. There are also a limited number of spots to join Philip live while he makes his presentation.
This live option will include a 3:00pm local hike, Enzo's pizza and beverages from One Love Brewery prior to the presentation, and the actual presentation. Please note a donation to Philip will be greatly appreciated for this.
If you're interested in tuning in or attending, please fill out the registration form below! Meeting details will be sent via email prior to the event!
Who is Philip?
Philip J. Carcia is a hiker, runner, and media creator who has logged over 15,000 miles on some of the most iconic trail networks in North America. Growing up in Massachusetts and cutting his teeth in New Hampshire, Carcia fostered a deep love affair with the mountains of the Northeast at an early age. Almost two-decades later, that love continues to widen, and has become an anchor in Carcia's personal and professional narrative. Most recently, Philip completed the White Mountains Trace (formerly known as the Redline) in 100 days last summer and early fall. Between August 23rd 2018 and July 7th 2019, Carcia climbed all 48 4,000 footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in every month, for 12 consecutive months. This established the Fastest Known Time for one of the most grueling and obscure peak-bagging projects in the United States - the Single Year Grid.
Philip is known across the social media universe as @findingphilip. As a public speaker, he talks about his experiences in the mountains regularly throughout New England and hosts his own series of talks at The Notch Hostel in North Woodstock, NH.
