ABOUT JOHN

"My wife Carol and I raise naturally colored purebred merino sheep. If raising merino 24/7 365 days a year doesn't make you passionate about merino, nothing does. We sell all our fiber to individual artisans around the country. We are merino believers.

That being said my other career since retiring from an engineering job is a return to alpine ski coaching. I previously had been head coach at Northwood School, Lake Placid and head alpine at St Lawrence Univ. Now I coach a small elite group of racers here in Montana traveling about the west US and western Can. We are based at Blacktail Mountain and called Montana Alpine Race School. I recently wore your base layer at a cold, windy training camp in Banff. Coaching is tough to dress for, moments of sweating exertion followed by standing hours. I was more skiing at this camp but perfectly comfortable. My athletes definitely took notice.

When we get away from the farm there isn't much to do in Montana besides, hike, kayak, mountain bike, camp, fly fish, river raft. That is why we chose to move here and what we do. Glacier National Park is 40 minutes away. My wife is also executive director of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation with plenty of need for the right gear.

So whether I am on the farm mending fences, coaching winter athletes or recreating in Montana, Merino clothing is an excellent choice.
