Each purchase at 21stFinds will come with a care manual, giving tips on how to care for your new antique item. These are some general tips to keep a piece of antique jewellery in top condition.
- A slightly harsh but sensible advise to keep your jewel in its best shape is to put it on when you leave your house, and take it off as soon as you return. I know that will be difficult for most, but it is wise to at least take it off when sleeping, exercising, cleaning or doing anything else that gets your heart rate up!
- Always store your item individually when you are not wearing it: for instance in the box it came in, a velvet pouch, or in a jewellery box that offers room to store items individually.
- Never use any harsh cleaning detergents or ultra sonic cleaners. Instead, if possible, soak it in some lukewarm water with a drop of dishwasher detergent periodically. Softly brush it with a baby toothbrush if desired, and use a blow-dryer set to cool to dry it without water stains remaining
- Items set with rose-cut diamonds in closed settings should never be immersed in water; these can be kept clean by using a soft cloth.
