Small jar with lid
An old jam jar that has been cleaned is perfect home for your starter. Or if you think your new starter friend deserves something beautiful you could use one of our Starter Jars.
Kitchen scale
Useful for weighing all types of ingredients - flour, water, salt. See kitchen scale.
Oven that can heat up to atleast 240 degrees Celsius
Ensure your oven is able to reach a high temperature required for baking bread.
PART 1: ACTIVATE YOUR GLUTEN-FREE STARTER FLAKES
Activating your starter flakes is the first step. Allow for up to 24 hours before an active starter is achieved. Follow the instructions here.
Once your starter is active you may proceed to Part 2 (below) to begin making your gluten-free sourdough bread.
PART 2: LET’S MAKE GLUTEN-FREE SOURDOUGH BREAD
Once you have an active starter, you can begin making your first loaf of sourdough! Allow for 12 hours from start to finish.
If using our WHITE GF FLOUR please use this white recipe.
If using our WHOLEMEAL GF FLOUR please use this wholemeal recipe.
If you’re not quite ready to make bread, you can pop the starter in the fridge in an air tight jar. It will need to be fed or used once a week to maintain a healthy starter, otherwise it will become dormant & take longer to revive. More on maintenance here.
