DUCK DOWN FILLER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR DOWN INSERTS

Who doesn’t love a snuggly, cozy and comfortable bed? However, the nuisance starts when it’s finally time to clean your bedding. Simple bedding items like bedsheets and pillowcases are easy to take care off but washing and maintaining your down inserts can be a little intimidating. However, you can conveniently look after your down inserts by following our care guide and make your inserts brand new in no time.

With proper care, your down inserts will last a really long time. So, let’s get started.

Gentle Cycle
A strong washing cycle or harsh laundry detergents can harm your down inserts. This is why try washing the down filling using a gentle cycle setting and a small amount of mild detergent.

Lukewarm Water

Extreme hot or cold water can be very hard on down filling. Opt for lukewarm water to wash the inserts for best results.

Canvas Shoes

Avoid bunching of your down inserts by placing white canvas shoes (make sure they are clean and the laces are removed) in the washing machine along with your down inserts. Alternatively, you can also place in two tennis balls stuffed in a sock and tied carefully.

This will not just avoid bunching but will also remove any soil particles.

Avoid Stink

Sometimes the down inserts can have a bad odor after washing. However, this is not a reason for you to worry as down can have an odor while being wet which will automatically go away after drying.

Proper Drying

After washing the down inserts, place them in a large dryer and use dryer balls for the best results. Dry the inserts on the lowest temperature and pause the dryer occasionally to give the inserts a shake to make sure there are no lumps. The drying process can take up to three hours.

If the inserts are still damp after taking them out of the dryer, then hang them on the clothing wire to dry them out completely. If you don’t completely dry the inserts, mold formation can occur.

Proper Storage

After the moisture is completely evaporated, store the down inserts by properly wrapping them in a cotton sheet.

For best maintenance, take your inserts out and place them outside on a warm day under the sun for a couple of hours.
