Hello Everyone - Happy Friday!
What a week this has been. Festival season has returned - with a vengeance!
We've had tons of visitors to the showroom, our Tuesday night dulcimer club had it's best post-Covid attendance yet, and instruments have been shipping like crazy.
As I was looking through my image archives, hoping to find something fun to go with this week's "In The Shop" newsletter segment, I ran across this gem of a photo. You probably recognize all three of the people in this picture - they're all world-famous. From left to right, we have: Bert, Bing, and Ernie. Ernie is probably the most famous of the three, known for his 1970 performance of "Rubber Duckie," which made it to 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. (Seriously, look it up!)
The most talented of the trio is (of course) our very own Bing Futch. He's best known for his adventurous dulcimer stylings, and while he's not yet made the "Top 100," his use of actual fingers allows him to play dulcimer with much more accuracy that the other two "people" in this photo.
And poor Bert? No fingers, so he's a weak dulcimer player. I've never heard him sing, but hopefully Ernie shares his "Rubber Duckie" recording royalties with his buddy, Bert.
This photo was taken at a summer NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) convention a few years ago, in Nashville, Tennessee. The photo does not imply any association, representation, or endorsement of Folkcraft Instruments by the non-Futchian (Sesame Street) characters.
