Yes, we offer completely free shipping Australia wide.

No, we don't ship internationally at this time.
I’ve seen cheaper electric kick scooters around, why should I go buy the Segway series?
Segway is one of the world’s most trusted brands, known for their quality, stability and reliability. The cheaper electric kick scooters tend to break (often), the speedometer is (very often) inaccurate and you’ll (always) feel every single bump. They also don’t have the associated app technology or offer regular firmware upgrades among many other things. You really get what you pay for with Segway electric kick scooters.
Does the Ninebot Es2, Es4 and Max scooters have a speedometer?
Yep, all Segway electric kick scooters sold by Electric Kicks come with an inbuilt speedometer.
What weights are the electric kick scooters?
The Es2 weighs around 12.5kg and the Es4 and Max weigh around 14.5kg.
Are kick scooters easy to carry?
Yes they are! Segway's Ninebot Kick Scooter range quickly fold, clip and carry in around 3 seconds flat. Since the Es4 and Max weigh a little more than the Es2, carrying over long distances can sometimes strain a little. If this happens you can always wheel it.
How stable are they?
Our electric scooters are very stable and extremely smooth and easy to ride (so easy that my 70 year old mum can ride them...and loved it).
Are these products suitable for children?
Use your best judgment, but our general recommendation is suitable for 14+ years and up.
Where is Electric Kicks located?
We are based in Melbourne, Australia.
What is the difference between the Es2, Es4 and Max?
The top speed and range is the main difference on the Es2 and Es4. The Es2 has a max speed of 25km/hr and the Es4 has a top speed of 30 km/hr. The Es2 will take you roughly 25km of travel distance before needing a recharge, while the Es4 will get you roughly 40km. The Ninebot Max is Segway's premium kick scooter model, with a range of 65km, a top speed of 30km/hr, a 15% climbing angle, rear wheel drive, built in charger cord, bell, and vacuum inflatable tires allowing better shock absorption and more diverse terrain coverage.
What’s the performance like on steep terrain?
If you live in a hilly area, we recommend the Es4 or Max as it has more grunt. Depending on the steepness of the hill the Es2 will usually be fine, but sometimes you’ll need a kick or two. It really depends on the size of the hill. Since the Ninebot max has rear wheel drive and a 15% climbing angle it is the best for hills and steep terrain.
How fast does the Es2, Es4 and Max go?
The Ninebot Es2, Es4 and Max offer different top speeds. The Es2 will give you a top speed of 25km/hr and the Es4 and Max have a 30km/hr top speed. The top speed will depend on how heavy the rider is and the slope of the terrain (The flatter the terrain and the lighter the rider, the faster you’ll go)
What distance do they go?
The Es2 will give you around 25km of range before needing a recharge, the Es4 will give you around 40km range before needing a recharge and the Max will give you a 65km range. This will depend on the weight of the rider. The heavier the rider, the less range.
What’s the maximum rider weight?
100kg is the max recommended weight, however, we have tested the Ninebot Es4 and Max at heavier than 100kg and it worked fine, but for those that are over 100kg and still want to purchase, you are welcome to do so, but please keep this in mind that your scooter may not perform at top speed and distance.
Can two people ride at the same time?
We don’t recommend this as it puts a strain on the scooter and performance will suffer, but in theory...maybe?
What's the suspension like?
All our Segway scooters come with built in shock absorption and suspension on front and back wheels, this is a huge advantage of the Segway Es2, Es4 and Max scooters over other scooters on the market. You may however feel some bumps depending on how fast you are going, the size of the bump and the roughness of the terrain. The Ninebot Max has vacuum Inflatable tires and offers the best suspension of all three models.
Can I ride in the wet / rain?
We recommend avoiding riding in the rain. However, all Ninebot scooters come with front and rear mud guards which avoid a lot of the splash back. We haven’t had problems riding in the wet, but if you choose to ride in the wet, ride at your own risk.
Is there much setup involved?
Setup is really easy and takes around 3 to 4 simple steps (You basically screw in the neck, handlebars, press on and click sync on the app and you’re good to go). Each Segway scooter comes with easy to follow instructions. For the Es4 you’ll need to attach and screw in the battery pack which is super easy.
Do I have to register my scooter with any transport authority? Eg. Vic Roads?
To the best of our knowledge you do not need a license or registration to use Segway Kick Scooters.
How long does charging take?
Charging the Es2 is roughly 2 - 3 hours whereas charging the Es4 and Max take a little longer due to the improved battery life (roughly 3 - 4 hours). The Ninebot Max has an inbuilt charging cord making charging convenient.
Do I have to charge it after each ride?
Generally no (depending on how far you travel). The Es2 will get you around 25km range, the Es4 will get you around 40km and the Max around 65km. We don’t recommend charging after each ride to conserve battery longevity.
How will I know when I need to recharge?
The battery level indicator is located on the speedometer so you can quickly see when it’s fully recharged vs when it is running out of juice. As the battery gets low you may also experience a drop in performance.
Is there a difference in performance at lower battery levels?
You’ll find it the scooters will go a little slower when the battery is at its lowest.
Does the scooter recharge itself while I’m riding?
Yes, this is another great feature of the Segway electric kick scooter range. The scooters will recharge themselves while you’re rolling without pressing the accelerator. Depending on your settings you can adjust the recharge amount in the app.
Can I try before I buy?
Sure, we have certain models available to test at our warehouse. Please contact us to arrange.
Do you have a physical store?
No, we ship them from our warehouse.
Can I change the colour of the lights?
Yes! This is actually a really cool feature. You can change all colours and lighting with the easy to use app. (You can even get mario-kart like flashing colours!)
Do they have a brake system? What’s it like?
Yes, all scooters have a solid braking system. The brakes are designed to slow you down rather than stop abruptly. You’ll appreciate this when you’re going at top speed!
Do you offer a warranty? What is covered?
We offer a 12 month limited warranty. Please see our warranty page for more details
Post Purchase FAQ
What are some examples of safety guidelines I should follow?
Don’t go too fast off drop offs eg. sidewalks, drains, curbs etc. This may cause your suspension to bottom-out and you may break the back mudguard (Learn from our mistakes!). We recommend you don’t ride on the road. Watch for cars coming out of their driveway or adjacent streets.
What speed settings do you recommend?
We recommend always using the scooters in sport mode as it offers the most power. If you’re in sport mode you’ll see a little red “S” on the speedometer with the Es2 and Es4. If you don’t see this, just quickly double tap the on switch until you do.
The front stem is a little loose after I ride
Try tightening the base of the stem a little tighter than you did originally.
I still get some water splash on me when I ride in the rain
We recommend not riding in the rain, but if you choose to you may get some splashes despite the mud guards.
I have just ridden my scooter and am trying to charge but it’s not charging
If you’re experiencing this just let the scooter cool down a little and then try charging again. It will eventually start charging.
I have purchased an Es2 and want to upgrade to an Es4, is this possible?
Yes this is easily done! All you need to do is purchase an Es2 upgrade extra battery pack. We sell Es2 battery upgrades to Es4 which can be purchased at our Electric Kicks store.
My Segway isn’t going top speed, why is this?
This could be for any one of the reasons outlined below:
- You’re using the light - when the light is used the device may go slower due to additional power needed.
- You haven’t clicked it into “sport mode” - we recommend always using the Segway Es2 and Es4 scooters in sport mode. If you’re in sport mode you’ll see a little red “S” on the speedometer. If you don’t see this, just quickly double tap the on switch until you do.
- The battery may be low - No brainer, go and recharge.
- Weight - The heavier you are or if you’re carrying heavier items then you may see reductions in speed.
- You’re going up a steeper terrain or a hill - Going up hills or steep terrain will reduce the speed. This will depend on how steep the hill is.
- External Battery Tightness - If you’re battery has become slightly loose than you may experience performance loss (only relevant to the Es4). If you are experiencing performance loss, then try undoing and redoing the battery pack nice and tight.
- External Battery Lights Are Flashing - Press and hold the button next to the lights for 10 seconds and it should fix this.
I get a squeaking noise when I ride
This is easily fixed, just turn the scooter over and put some oil on the suspension underneath (you can use kitchen olive oil too).
I broke my mudguard, what do I do?!
You went too fast from too high didn’t you?? Tut tut tut. No worries, we can help. Check out the Ninebot accessories in our store. If the particular accessory is unavailable, contact us and we’ll try to help.
My brake or accelerator is jamming
The most common cause of this is the handle grips are pressing against the brake or accelerator leavers. If this is the case, twist the handle grips out a little to give the leavers some more room.
I need another replacement part (eg. wheel)
We can help you, please enquire with our support team.
Do you offer repair services?
We don’t offer repair currently in-house, but we can recommend people who can. Please contact us and we’ll try to help.
