The Endura Flap Pet Door, Hale Pet Door, and Plexidor Pet Door are all great top of line pet doors with their own unique quirks and features. If you are looking for a pet door that will stand up to the test of time, any of these pet doors are great choices compared to any of the big box brand names you might find in your local hardware store.
Compared to many other brands, these pet doors in particular pride themselves on being energy efficient, having a great seal, and being durable. Most other pet doors you find, especially cheaper ones in hardware stores, fall apart relatively quickly or require their flaps to be replaced at a minimum once a year. Not only that, most of these other brand pet doors leak air due to a poor seal, which can prove costly if you run your AC or heat.
While naming the best can be entirely subjective, we will point out the main differences in the three pet doors and you can make up your mind!
Aesthetics
While this is completely subjective and can really depend on the aesthetics of your home or where you’re installing into, we will mention the comments that we have received from past customers about what they like about their pet doors in regards to their looks.
Endura Flap Pet Door
Beefy durable look. The flap is semi-clear, meaning it is not fully see through. Some people prefer this over a completely clear flap. Comes in three different colors, tan, black, and white.
Hale Pet Door
Sleek modern look. The flap is fully clear. Comes in four different colors, Arizona Beige, White, Black, and Brushed Aluminum.
Plexidor Pet Doors
Beefy durable look. The flap has a saloon style door design that is also ridged. Comes in three different colors: Bronze, White and Silver.
Flap
Endura Flap Pet Door
The pet door flap on the Endura Flap pet door is engineered to excel at energy efficiency and to have an excellent sealing value.
The flap has magnets lined along the sides and bottom of the flap, ensuring there are no gaps in its seal. The flap is double walled, meaning there are two pieces of plastic that are positioned together to create air space for an insulating effect. Although this design makes the flap semi-transparent, it is a trade-off in the engineered design for maximum insulation and energy efficiency. The Endura Flap can also remain flexible and sealed up to -40 degrees Fahrenheit.
The magnets that line the bottom of the flap can also be adjusted in strength by removing them. If you notice in the diagram above, you can see the Endura Flap rotates on a rod, which compared to traditional pet doors, prevents flexing at the top of the flap, which is where cracking and tearing are often found.
Finally, the Endura Flap has also been tested against UV exposure equivalent to 2 years of Florida sun, and during this test the flap showed no signs of cracking or degradation.
If one of these flaps sounds strong, guess what, there is a double flap option!
Plexidor Pet Door
Plexidor Pet Door Flaps are unique in the sense that they are the only pet door on the market that utilizes rigid flaps. The shatter resistant saloon style flap that the Plexidor utilizes are made of K9 COMPOSITE™ which is specially formulated to resist damage from sunlight, extreme temperatures and high impact.
The pet door panels are lined with industrial grade weather sealing on all four sides, ultimately reducing air conditioning loss or heat loss.
Plexidor prides itself on "No More Replacement Flaps". The Plexidor rigid flaps cannot shrink, crack, or fade and all of their panels are made to withstand UV rays and heavy impact.
Hale Pet Door
Hale Pet Door Flaps are made of flexible 3/16" PVC Vinyl. Hale Pet door flaps are surrounded by a ½” nylon pile weather stripping for added insulation. Alnico 5 magnets are used for sealing. Alnico 5 magnets are made from aluminum, nickel, and cobalt alloy. They are known for their strong magnetism which gives the flap strength and durability in its sealing. The number of magnets on the flap is determined by the flap size.
With a double flap option, the Hale Pet Door has seen great success with sealing, weatherproofing, and energy efficiency.

Conclusion
All in all, any of these pet doors are a great choice for your home if you are looking for a high quality pet door. While they are not necessarily cheap in price, especially compared to some other brands, you basically get what you pay for when purchasing a pet door. All three of these brands have thousands of satisfied customers that swear by them. A high quality pet door in the long run can also save you money compared to cheaper brands not only when it comes to energy bills, but through replacing flaps. Cheaper brand pet doors require their flaps to be replaced as often as multiple times a year, which adds up extremely quick. Here at Pet's Choice Supply, we purposely choose not to stock or work with these other brands because we stand by these products and know they will satisfy your needs.
