Shipping and delivery FAQ's 

 

How much is shipping?


Delivery available within New Zealand only. Standard rates are below (rates for overweight / oversize orders and plants follow further down the page).

For orders under $99:

Standard (permission to leave): $5 

Standard + signature required: $7

Rural (permission to leave): $9

Waiheke (permission to leave): $9


Rest of the North Island + the South Island


Free shipping

Rural (permission to leave): $12

Stewart Island is overweight/oversize rates (below)

Permission to leave means you give your local courier permission to leave your parcel without getting a signature. 

Signature required adds $2. Both the couriers and Love That Leaf are not liable for stolen, damaged or lost items after they have been delivered (but if anything does go wrong please do let us know). Please select Signature Required for peace of mind, especially when purchasing high value, limited edition or limited stock items that can't be replaced. Couriers do not provide signature required for rural delivery. 


*Free shipping excludes oversize or overweight orders. I'll always try to pack well to get you standard rates even for large volume or heavy orders, but when it isn't possible I'll get in touch. Oversize / overweight rates follow below. 

 

When do orders ship?


Sunday to Thursday:
Order by 7pm Monday to Thursday night, or by 4pm Sunday, and your order will ship the next morning. Zoom zoom!

Friday, Saturday & Sunday: Friday morning orders normally leave Friday afternoon (when I can), otherwise weekend orders placed Friday afternoon to 4pm Sunday night usually leave on Monday morning (or the next working day if Monday is a public holiday). 

 

What's the normal delivery time?


Normal delivery is 1 to 3 working days after your order leaves.
Add 1 to 2 days extra for rural or remote regions. Keep in mind public holidays and events like weather extremes can cause delays.

 

What courier company do you use?


I use NZ Post, Aramex & Post Haste. I also offer the option of choosing your courier company at no extra charge*


Standard orders normally ship with Aramex, rural is normally NZ Post, and overweight is normally Aramex or Post Haste (however not always, as different regions and parcels have different rates).

*Unless there's a big cost difference, there's normally no extra cost to pick who you want me to use (if there is a big cost difference I'll let you know before incurring any extra charges to check you're okay with the cost).


To request a particular courier company:


Use either the COMPANY and COURIER or the DELIVERY NOTES box, on the shipping step when you checkout, to leave me a note for which of those 3 companies you want me to use (I will delete the note before shipping). Or just email me after you order, before your order ships.


Shipping rates for overweight / oversize orders


Overweight / oversize shipping rates apply for heavy orders, or very large boxes. Normally when your order is over 10 litres of combined products (such as potting mix), but can also happen when you have a lot of large yet light items, or small yet heavy items (such as Pon). 
The overweight / oversize shipping rate is the same shipping rate listed above per 10 litres of potting mix (or for Pon per 4 litres due to weight).


Note free shipping doesn't cover overweight / oversize orders, so if your order is large or heavy, and over $99, you only pay the overweight shipping rate/s. You don't pay the normal shipping rate. 


If your order is overweight, I'll email you a link to pay the extra, no bank transfer needed. It's just added to your order, so the same website payment methods apply (credit card etc). If you prefer, you can reduce your order to avoid paying anything extra for shipping, and I'll send everything else and refund the items removed.

 

What if I ordered both plants and hardware?


Orders without plants ship the same or next working day, and your plant will ship the following Monday or Tuesday. If we can, we'll ship everything together, and discount your shipping, since it saves an extra parcel. If we can do that you'll get a refund for the discounted shipping after you order. 

 

Shipping rates for plants

 

Auckland is $8 for standard and $12 for rural delivery per plant. The rest of the country is $12 for standard and $15 for rural delivery per plant. 


Shipping rates for fragile products


Fragile rates - for items like handmade pottery and coffee table books - start from $10 per item, but can vary 
depending on product type, size and region. Add to cart and the website will calculate fragile shipping for you once you've entered your address, before you pay. 

 

Where can you deliver to?


To any physical delivery address in New Zealand, not to a PO Box. Make sure to give an address where someone will be there during normal work hours (Monday to Friday 8 to 5).


 

Do you offer click and collect?


For now, I'm online only, but hoping to offer 
our Auckland customers click and collect soon.  

 

My parcel says it's delivered, but I can't find it!


Oh no. Things do go wrong sometimes. Before you panic, first ask your neighbours, look in your letterbox, and have a really good look around your property in case the driver left it somewhere out of sight.


The next step is to call your local courier depot as soon as possible. They can usually call the driver while you wait and ask if they recall where they left it. If you have no luck, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help also. 


Keep in mind if you didn't choose signature required, that gives the driver permission to leave your parcel if you're not home. Once it's been delivered, they've done their job, and both the courier and Love That Leaf are not liable for parcels that are stolen, damaged or lost after delivery. But that doesn't mean we can't help.


We can usually find out the driver's GPS location to make sure they were at the right address. If you let us know right away the driver will likely remember where it was left. Please don't wait to contact me or the courier company! If I can get the driver's location, and it was delivered to the wrong address, it is the courier's responsibility to uplift and redeliver.


Unless you know someone will be at the address during normal working hours, please always choose signature required for peace of mind. This is even more important for limited edition, high value, or limited stock items that may not be able to be replaced.
