Before Pegai’s co-founder, Volkan Yilmaz, moved to Chicago, he grew up in a small town in Turkey.
as his family are generational leather craftsmen, Volkan spent many years in tanneries as a boy.
Because of this, Volkan values the hard work and experience that goes into producing handmade leather crafts.
All of OUR products AT PEGAI are made with fair labor practices, by adults over 18 years old.
We never use UNETHICAL sweatshop labor or outsource to factories that do.
After learning that factories in parts of Turkey pay women less than minimum wage,
we made a pact to hire predominantly women and pay them fair wages. WE BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO A DECENT JOB.
