Find out how Pekpi Swim Nappies work for you and your babe including how they work and how to care for them.
How do reusable swim nappies differ from modern cloth nappies?
Reusable Swim Nappies are an economical and sustainable alternative to disposables. As opposed to Cloth Nappies, reusable Swim Nappies do not require absorbency so you will find these just have the shell and do not require inserts or liners.
What are swim nappies and how do they work?
Swim nappies are designed for use in water, holding solids while allowing liquids to pass through to avoid weighing the baby down. They typically feature snug elastic at the legs and waist to contain messes. Unlike regular nappies, swim nappies do not have absorbent layers to prevent them from becoming waterlogged.
How does the Swim Nappy sizing work?
Unlike our one-size-fits-most Cloth Nappies, our Swim Nappies come in 4 different sizes based on the weight of your bub. Our swim nappies feature a drawstring waist for a secure fit around bubs tum.
- Small: 4 - 7 KG
- Medium: 7 - 10 KG
- Large: 10 - 15KG
- Extra-Large: 15+ KG
How many Swim Nappies will I need?
You will generally only need 2-3 swim nappies, depending how often your baby swims, as they feature a quick drying mesh lining. Use alongside our wet bag and keep dry clothing separate. Simply wash along with your other clothing items (or cloth nappies) being careful not to exceed 60 degrees celsius.
How do I wash my Swim Nappy?
For number two soiled nappies follow the process as our standard Cloth Nappy Washing Guide with a pre-wash before adding the Swim Nappy into your main load. If the Swim Nappy is not soiled simply wash in your main wash (do not exceed 60 degrees). To ensure its longevity ensure that your Swim Nappy doesn't come into contact with sun lotions or rough surfaces.
Can you put a swim diaper under a bathing suit?
Yes, swim nappies can be worn under a bathing suit or on their own, depending on pool rules and personal preference.
Do you need to use a regular diaper under a swim diaper?
No, using a regular diaper under a swim diaper is not recommended as it will absorb water and become heavy, potentially causing discomfort and hindrance.
Do I need to use an insert or liner in my Swim Nappy?
No, all Swim Nappies (regardless of whether they are reusable or disposable) are designed to catch number twos whilst letting liquids pass through. This is so that bub can remain buoyant in the water and not be weighed down by a full nappy.
