Chassis Specific FAQs
How does shipping of chassis work? What are the shipping times? Who pays and how much will customs and duties be?
Please read our "About Chassis Shipping" page in full before ordering. Please note that we are unable to cater to rush orders and delivery lead times are approximates only.
Where are the chassis made and the materials sourced?
Hifi2000 has been making chassis in Italy for over 40 years. Everything is made and finished in Italy. When you invest in one of these chassis you can do so knowing you are purchasing the result of decades of Italian manufacturing experience.
All working and finishing is performed in-house by highly trained staff or the owners themselves. Even the heatsinks (which feature a proprietary wave profile, designed by their engineers for maximum heat dissipation) are extruded at a local Italian factory, just around the corner from Ducati and Lamborghini.
Are there any bulk discounts for custom chassis services?
The pricing for all services, including CNC, drilling, etc is per piece. For 2 pieces, multiply the price by 2. For 4 pieces, by 4. Etc. If you would like to order 10 pieces or more, please contact us for a quote.
- Base included
- Heatsinks tapped
- Front panel drilled (8 tapped threads and 1 LED pilot hole)
- Back panel CNC cut
- Top and bottom covers CNC cut (6 rows)
- Extra screws included so the base can be used upside down
Why are there some minor scratches on one side of my panel?
Each panel (rear, top and bottom covers, faceplates, and heatsinks) has two sides - an exterior "blemish free" side, and an interior "working" side.
The exterior side is the side you and your amplifier's admirers will see once your project is complete. Great care is taken during the working, finishing and storage phases to ensure that once installed the this side of the panel will have no visible blemishes.
Sometimes during working a panel needs to be rested on a surface that may scratch it (not always, but there is a chance), and we follow strict processes to ensure this is only ever the interior "working" side.
Why aren't there holes on the bottom chassis cover for feet?
We know, it's weird. The reason for this is that some people like to use 3 feet to avoid wobbling, and some people like to use 4 feet. We didn't want to drill holes people didn't want, so you do need to drill the holes for the feet in the chassis cover yourself. We are going to survey customers in the future to see how they actually used their chassis, and see if we should change this policy.
What is the cooling capacity of the 40mm heatsinks?
Please see our dedicated 40mm Heatsink Information page for information on the 40mm heatsinks.
Can I get information on the "Quasi" heatsinks used on the Galaxy and Slimline chassis?
Please see: The Amazingly DIY Friendly "Quasi Heatsinks"
Where can I find the "Universal Mounting Specification" (UMS) documentation?
Right here: Universal Mounting Specification
What do the IEC holes that are offered on some 1U and 2U models look like? What are the dimensions?
Please see this diagram of the IEC hole as a PDF and this picture of a 1U chassis with an pre-supplied IEC hole in the rear.
The dimension of the IEC cutout on the Pesante 2U is 27x20 and the distance between the 2 holes is 40mm.
What grade of aluminum is used for the front panels?
All anodized panels are 6060 aluminium
What chassis can use steel and aluminum covers interchangeably?
- Pesante -> Only has steel panels
- Dissipante/Deluxe -> Steel and aluminum panels are not interchangeable
- Slim Line -> Steel and aluminum panels are interchangeable
- Mini Dissipante -> Only has aluminum panels
- Galaxy -> Steel and aluminum panels are interchangeable
Please do not attempt to order a Dissipante/Deluxe and then add a substitution for a panel of a different material, or additional panels made of a different material. They are different designs (steel has a flange) and are not compatible. This is clearly documented on the various ordering pages for substitutions, so please do note that information. We do regularly have customers that ignore this information and hope for the best which results in delays because we will not be able to process your order.
