Lanka Kade was set up in 1994 by business partners Upul and Diane who met whilst working for the Red Cross in Sri Lanka. The name Lanka Kade translates to ‘The Sri Lankan Shop’.
We love Lanka Kade’s ethos of building long term, sustainable trading partnerships that help to protect skills and provide much needed stability and employment to local people and their families. Lanka Kade comply with the internationally accepted 10 Principles of Fair Trade and have been proud and active members of BAFTS (The British Association of Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers) since 2001.
Lanka Kade Fair Trade Wooden Animals and Characters are handcrafted by skilled artisans in Sri Lanka from sustainably sourced rubber wood and non toxic paints. Blemishes should be expected, these are part of the beauty of a natural wood product. For example, small dinks in the wood or paint blemishes, as all handmade and hand painted.
