About Auvi-Q

Auvi-Q is used to treat life-threatening allergic reactions, also known as anaphylaxis, in people who have a history of having these types of reactions. It is the first and only epinephrine auto-injector to treat allergic reactions that will talk you through the injection process, step-by-step. The device is small enough to fit in your pocket, purse or backpack, so it can go with you wherever you go. It comes in two doses, one for adults and one for children.

How does Auvi-Q work?

Auvi-Q is extremely user friendly and will begin with asking you if you are ready to use the pen. The instructions will then tell you how to expose the needle, where to put the device on the leg, how to inject the medication and counts until medication release is complete. The needle automatically retracts itself after use. The device even reminds the user to seek medical attention immediately after use. The Auvi-Q does not take the place of emergency medical care and only contains one dose of epinephrine so the affected person needs to see a healthcare provider. The Auvi-Q is made to be injected into the outer thigh and should not be injected into buttock or intravenously.

Auvi-Q Indications

Never inject yourself with epinephrine if you aren’t prescribed to do so by a physician. If you are taking certain medications you could possibly develop serious, life-threatening side effects from taking epinephrine. Be sure to tell your doctor of all medications you are taking, especially asthma medications. Certain medical conditions may affect your reaction to epinephrine also, such as depression, thyroid disease, Parkinson’s, diabetes and high blood pressure. Have all the facts before using Auvi-Q for severe allergic reactions.
